Civils Project Manager - North East based
We are looking to recruit an experienced Civils Project Manager to oversee and coordinate civil engineering projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standards of quality, programme and cost.
Reporting to the Civils Construction Manager, you will take responsibility for day-to-day site activities, subcontractor management, client liaison, programme monitoring and Health & Safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate site activities alongside the Civils Construction Manager to deliver projects to specification, programme and cost targets.
- Take responsibility for Health & Safety compliance and site safety initiatives.
- Lead and manage employees, subcontractors and labour teams effectively.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders throughout project delivery.
- Maintain clear communication internally and externally, identifying and resolving issues quickly.
- Ensure all daywork sheets are checked, signed and processed in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain appropriate labour resources within tender allowances to achieve programme requirements.
- Liaise with the Buyer and Plant & Transport teams to ensure materials and plant are programmed in line with the procurement schedule.
- Monitor the quality of workmanship delivered by labour-only and domestic subcontractors, highlighting any issues prior to payment.
- Monitor site progress against the contract programme and report any potential delays or concerns.
- Liaise with Construction, Operations Support and Design teams to ensure drawings, schedules and technical information are available when required.
- Ensure verbal site instructions are properly recorded in accordance with company procedures.
- Complete and submit weekly site documentation within the required timescales.
- Report any damage to existing services.
- Prepare and present progress reports at site and client meetings.
- Attend management meetings to review monthly cost/value comparisons and reconciliations.
- Prepare, manage and close out snagging and defect lists.
- Attend weekly production meetings to coordinate labour, plant and upcoming project requirements.
- Identify potential programme risks and take proactive action to minimise delays and disruption.
Qualifications & Certifications
Candidates should hold:
- Relevant professional qualification within Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline
- SMSTS
- Valid CSCS Manager/Professional Card
- First Aid qualification

- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- IT literacy, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Experience working with construction programming processes/software
